We're so far behind on tackling the use of AI to make explicit deepfake content, it's like chasing a Formula One car in a tricycle.
That's the opinion of Gráinne Seoige, who spoke before an Oireachtas Committee this afternoon on her experience of having deepfakes of her shared online.
She discovered sexualised, AI-generated images of her were widely circulating on messaging platforms, as she was contesting the November 2024 general election.
It comes as the EU is considering a total ban on so-called 'Nudification' apps, after major controversy over the use of Grok on social platform X to undress people.
