Galway primary schools to pilot new nutrition awareness project

Galway Bay fm newsroom - NUI Galway's Paediatric Society has teamed up with the Association of Medical Students to spread awareness on the subject of nutrition among primary school children.

The team aims to educate primary school children about the science behind food, and encourage them to adopt healthier lifestyles.

The project uses a creative lesson plan called 'Healthy Heroes' which incorporates the anatomy, biochemistry and physiology of basic nutrition.

They will pilot the lesson with fourth class students in two city schools next month - Scoil Chroí Iosa Presentation School, and Saint Patrick's National School.
