Galway RNLI respond to multiple call-outs in one night

Galway RNLI responded to multiple call-outs in the early hours of this morning.

At around 1am, during rough sea conditions, the lifeboat responded to a report of a sick crew member on board a research vessel in Galway Bay.

It was diverted after a second call for help came in at 1.30am, when family members raised the alarm after a sailing boat failed to arrive in Renville as planned.

Using radar, it was located off Black Head in Co. Clare, and a check confirmed the crew had lost communications during rough weather but were in otherwise good order.

The lifeboat crew returned to the research vessel off Mutton Island at around 3am, and safely transferred the sick crew member to shore

They later returned to the sailing boat and escorted the two crew members onboard safely into Renville.
