Public consultation sessions on the development plans for University Hospital Galway are going ahead this week.
Events had been planned last week, but were called off due to a lack of awareness.
The plan would be the largest ever investment in healthcare infrastructure in the West, and would include a cancer care centre, 300 inpatient beds, an ED and enhanced maternity services.
The HSE is hosting two drop-in sessions at St Joseph's Community Centre in Shantalla this week - from 1:30PM to 6:30PM on Thursday and from 1:30PM until 5PM on Friday.
The plans also propose a green space in Shantalla be turned into a permanent helipad, which has raised concerns from the local community.
A separate community meeting on the helipad plan - organised by the local residents' association - is taking place at 7:30 on Wednesday evening at the centre.
Speaking to Galway Talks, Labour City Councillor John McDonagh is calling on the HSE to properly listen to local concerns
To date, the project team have met with almost 300 people at consultation events, while 157 feedback submissions were received online.
Of that, 45 percent of people said they were supportive of the plans, with just under a quarter saying they were somewhat supportive.
