Galway student among winners in national poetry competition

A Galway secondary school student was among the winners of the all island Poetry Aloud competition.

Shay Collins from Glenamaddy Community School was named as the runner-up in the Senior category for his recital of 'Those winter Evenings' by Seamus Heaney.

Fellow Glenamaddy schoolmate Evan Fahey was also a finalist on the day.

Speaking to Galway Bay FM, Shay says that poetry is like an escape for him.
