A University of Galway study has revealed that male colleagues and managers are not equipped to support women in menopause.
'Menopause in the workplace' surveyed over 1,600 workers across seven public sectors, to explore male attitudes toward colleagues who don't experience menopause.
Almost 80% of CEOs in Ireland are male, and the study suggests training and information should be provided to any male board members.
Dr Maeve O'Sullivan from University of Galway says 1 in 10 women experience severe menopause symptoms and have to leave work, and a solution needs to be found.
