One person dead and Galway/Athenry rail line closed until further notice following incident this morning

One person is dead following an incident on the rail line outside Oranmore.

A person was struck by the 6.15 Galway to Limerick service this morning.

This has since been confirmed as a fatality.

As a result, the line between Athenry and Galway remains closed until further notice as Gardai carry out further examination of the site.

Customers using either the Galway to Hueston and Galway to Limerick services are advised to expect delays of 20 to 25 minutes, and that bus transfers are in place between Athenry and Galway.
