The Galway West by-election candidate list will feel much fuller by the end of this month.
Nominations for Fianna Fáil's candidacy closed yesterday, and it's expected the selection convention will take place in the coming weeks.
Some of the names expected to go forward are Athenry/Oranmore Councillor Cillian Keane, City Councillor and Deputy Mayor Alan Cheevers, Connemara Councillor Máirtín Lee and City Councillor Josie Forde
Meanwhile, there are six names being mentioned for the Sinn Féin candidacy - but that process is yet to open and the party's convention is also due to take place before the end of March.
There are nine candidates confirmed so far to contest the election to fill the Dáil seat left vacant by President Catherine Connolly, which is set to be held on either May 15th or 22nd.
Candidates have been confirmed for Fine Gael, Independent Ireland, Aontú, the Social Democrats, Labour, Greens and People Before Profit.
While there are also two Independent candidates confirmed to be running for the election which will take place in just over two months time.
