Gardaí are investigating an assault on a young man in Galway city centre.
The crime occurred between 2.30 and 2.40 yesterday morning outside the Gala Shop on Prospect Hill.
A man in his 20s was assaulted by a another man while walking past the shop.
The victim was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Gardaí say the assault was unprovoked and the parties were not known to each other.
