The new Cathaoirleach of County Galway is Tuam area Fine Gael councillor Andrew Reddington.
The Headford-based councillor was elected at County Hall today, and it will be his first time in the top position.
He is succeeding Fine Gael's David Collins in the role, under a five-year pact agreed after the 2024 local elections.
He was proposed by two party colleagues - Loughrea Councillor Jimmy McClearn and seconded by Athenry/Oranmore councillor James Charity
