The HSE has finally commenced a long-awaited cleanup of the St. Brigids Hospital campus in Ballinasloe.
The works are being carried out in two phases, with the first underway this week.
The first are more simple works like the clearing of overgrowth and boarding up broken windows - the second phase is structural, including roof repairs.
The HSE plans to ultimately sell much of the land, but nothing's been decided yet.

Councillior Alan Harney says the cleanup is long overdue.
