Galway Bay fm newsroom - Just two Galway taxi drivers have received provisional grant offers under a Government electric car incentive.

The scheme led by Minister for Transport Shane Ross aims to encourage taxi drivers to move to electric cars.

The government scheme provides grants of up to €7,000 towards the cost of switching.

According to the Irish Times, there have been 92 applications for the grants with just seven awarded to date from 34 provisional offers.
