Midlands NorthWest MEP Ciaran Mulloooly is seeking an urgent meeting the EU Commissioner Michael McGrath over the Mercosur deal.
It comes after a protest saw tens of thousands of farmers gather in Athlone last Saturday, after the deal was provisionally approved.
Independent Ireland MEP Mulloooly says he will today deliver a petition against the deal, signed by more than 30 thousand people.
Irish MEPs will be in Brussels today, meeting colleagues from other countries, including Italy and France, where MEPs are reported to be wavering.
Local MEP Mullooly says he will write to Irish colleagues asking them to represent Ireland’s interests.
