Local MEP urges Government needs to cut red-tape with Mother and Baby redress payments

A local MEP says the Government must remove the 'unnecessary red-tape blocking survivors' from accessing Mother and Baby Home redress payments.

Midlands North West MEP Maria Walsh says less than 10% of the budget has been spent after two years of the scheme being in operation.

She has heard survivors say operational issues, poor promotion and exclusions from the scheme are making it difficult to get payments
