Local students have been awarded scholarships from Údarás na Gaeltachta and the HSE.
The scheme, which has been running for 20 years, aims to encourage more healthcare professionals with Gaeilge to build careers in Gaeltacht areas.
Five students were awarded, including Galway's Colm de Buitléar of An Cheathrú Rua, Leah Nic Dhonnacha of Camus Uachtair and Siona Ní Chonghaile from Inis Mór.
The scholarships, awarded at its first ceremony in Furbo, includes €4,000 for years 2-4 of their course.
