Local TD highlights need for basic financial education in schools

A local TD says there's a clear need for financial education to be a core part of our school system.

Deputy Albert Dolan says at secondary level, you can learn about accounting, economics and business.

But he said no-one is teaching students about basic personal financial literacy - like how mortgages work, investing money, or the importance of a pension and how to maximise it.

Raising the matter in the Dáil, Fianna Fail Deputy Dolan said it needs to given serious consideration.
