A survey has found that the majority of homes sold in Galway in the past few months were bought by first-time buyers.
Meanwhile 20 percent of sales in the county, and 15 percent in the city were attributed to landlords leaving the market.
The REA national survey shows the price of the average second-hand three-bed semi in Galway city and county rose by just 0.5 percent - reaching €400,000 in the city for the first time, and to €315,000 in the county.
The average time taken to reach sale agreed in Galway this quarter was four weeks.
Nationally, house price inflation slowedfrom 8.7 per cent at the end of 2025 to a 5.8 per cent yearly rise.
