Galway West TD Mairead Farell has marked Seachtain na Gaeilge by demanding badly needed investment in Connemara.
Speaking in the Dáil, she said there are immense difficulties facing Irish language speakers who wish to settle in their communities.
She highlighted unsustainable housing costs, lack of wastewater infrastructure, insufficient health services, and poor road surfaces.
Sinn Fein Deputy Farrell said there's a real risk that the Gaeltacht will be abandoned unless there's a urgent course correction overseen by Government.
And Deputy Farrell paid tribute to the efforts of young people who are keen to keep the language alive.
