Minister of State and Galway East TD Sean Canney says planned new legislation will fast-track flood relief infrastructure.
Government approval has been given to progress the bill which introduces timelines for decision-making to reduce delays and provide greater certainty for projects.
It will also transfer projects from the Minister for Public Expenditure to An Coimisiún Pleanála.
Minister Canney said this bill will strengthen the existing legislative framework.
