A festive fundraiser is to be held this afternoon in the Galway Plaza.
The fundraiser is a Christmas Tractor Run and Family Fun Day called “Light Up For Iggy” with all proceeds going to Cholangiocarcinoma Ireland, supporting Éanna Ryan’s “Run for Iggy” fundraising campaign.
The initiative is held in memory of Iggy Daly, who passed away earlier this year from Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive bile duct cancer, and it is hoped that the event will raise awareness and vital funds for a disease that remains under-recognised.
The “Run For Iggy” Campaign will see the former Galway Hurler and General Manager at M6 Motors Éanna Ryan take on the Marathon des Sables in April – a gruelling 250km ultramarathon across the Sahara Desert, all in honour of his late uncle Iggy.
Éanna’s campaign aims not only to raise funds but to support families affected by the disease through the work of Cholangiocarcinoma Ireland.
The fundraiser begins at 4pm this afternoon and will continue until 7pm this evening.
