Former President Michael D. Higgins has been announced as Guest of Honour for this year's St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Galway City.
The theme of this year's event is "Legends and Rising Stars", highlighting the stories, people and traditions that shape Galway.
Organisers say Michael D Higgins participation is a fitting tribute to his lifelong commitment to culture, equality and community life.
A particular highlight for 2026 is Céiliúradh, a new Community Pageant developed in collaboration with artist and theatre maker Hugh Brown.
