Minister Hildegarde Naughton has confirmed that Uisce Eireann works, scheduled today in Oranmore, have been deferred.
The works would have resulted in a day-long loss of water supply in the town, but will not go ahead today as planned.
Minister and Galway West TD Naughton contacted Uisce Eireann and Minister James Browne to urge for the works not to take place on what is expected to be the hottest day of the year.
The Housing Minister has asked Uisce Éireann to avoid carrying out non-essential water works during the warm weather, with concerns over the impacts of outages on vulnerable people
He's asked the utility to postpone non-urgent works where possible, and give maximum notice if interruptions cannot be avoided.
