Minister urged to carry out study on Common Application Scheme for Galway Secondary Schools

The Education Minister is being urged to carry out a feasibility study for the introduction of the Common Application Scheme for Galway Secondary Schools.

The system - which has been used in Limerick for 20 years - allows students to rank their school preferences from one to eleven, picking from 17 secondary schools.

Connemara Independent Councillor Tom Welby has written to Minister and Galway West TD Hildegarde Naughton, asking her to explore if it would work for Galway

Cllr Welby believes the scheme would take stress off both schools and families.
