A motorist was caught driving at more than 200mh/h on the M18 Motorway near Kinvara over the Christmas period.
It's as Gardaí have given a final update on the Christmas road safety campaign, which ended on Monday.
During the Christmas period, there were 26 fatalities on the roads and over 70 serious collisions that resulted in serious and life-threatening injuries.
765 people were arrested for driving under the influence - 56 percent were primarily alcohol, and 44 percent were primarily drugs.
Nearly 26,500 drivers were detected for speeding offences, and almost 3 thousand vehicles were seized, almost two-thirds for no insurance.
1,700 penalties were issued for the use of a mobile phone while driving, while a further 450 were given for non-wearing of seatbelts.
In a final update, Gardaí have provided a list of notable speed offences detected over the Christmas period.
The worst offender based on pure speed was 237km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N7 in Johnstown, Co. Kildare.
It's followed by 201km/h on the M18 Motorway near Kinvara.
But there were countless cases of cars going between 100 and 170km/h in 50, 60 and 80 zones all over the country.
