New Doughiska development will see 23 families taken off city housing list

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A new housing development will be opened in Doughiska later today which will see 23 families taken off the city council's social housing waiting list. (12/5)

The Maigh Rua complex is located on a previously dormant development and will involve a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments and townhouses.

The 3.8 million euro scheme is located on the Doughiska Road in the city.

It was developed under a joint venture by Co-Operative Housing Ireland and Galway City Council.

The group says a further 90 housing units are under development in the city with more than 200 additional homes planned for the wider region over the next 18 months.

The new apartments will be opened by Junior Minister and Galway West TD Seán Kyne at 2pm.
