New Garda divisional model may see Clifden and Tuam lose Superintendents

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Clifden and Tuam Garda stations may lose a Superintendent as part of a new divisional model being piloted for the wider Galway district.

The matter was raised at the County Joint Policing Committee meeting this week where Chief Superintendent Tom Curley said the model is part of a pilot being undertaken in a number of locations nationwide for over a year.

The model sets out to achieve a more efficient garda service with centralised areas such as governance, serious crime and administration.

This could see Superintendents based at Galway, Salthill, Ballinasloe and Loughrea, supported by Inspectors in areas such as Clifden, Carraroe, Tuam and Gort.
