Galway County Council has signed a contract for the construction of a new recycling facility in Gort.
The centre would be located around 1km from Gort town centre and the R458, and will accept a broad range of household recyclable materials.
These include couches, chairs, beds, carpets, clothing, shoes, clean bed linen and hazardous waste.
This would be the first civic amenity site in South Galway, with facilities already in Ballinasloe, Tuam and Clifden.

A construction contract worth half a million euro has now been signed with Kenny Civils & Plant Ltd.
