A request has been lodged with an Coimisiún Pleanála for the withdrawal of development of the Sceirde Rocks wind farm off the west Connemara coastline.
Planning permission was only sought for project at the start of this year, before it was ruled non-viable due to sea conditions.
The request to withdraw the Sceirde planning application was made in recent days.
The company, Fuinneamh Sceirde Teoranta, stated that it understands that formal requirements to withdraw the application have been fulfilled.
Representatives from the company, and from an Coimisiún Pleanála, met on the 4th of December.
The projected Wind Farm investment was estimated €1.2bn, euro - that is 1,200 million euro - and it included a community development fund of €72m. for west Connemara.
The funding would have come through a company called Corio Generation, a branch of the McQuarrie Bank of Australia.
A Canadian Teachers Union Pension Fund would also put in money.
The planning application was lodged on the 17th of January this year in the name of Fuinneamh Sceirde Teoranta, the Connemara based company that opened up the Sceirde plan 25 years ago.
It was announced in April that they were not proceeding with the plans as the winds were too violent in Sceirde, and the seabed was to rough.
However, the planning application was being processed up until now.
