Over 80 vacant social homes brought back into use in Galway in 2025

83 vacant social homes have been brought back into use in Galway in the past year.

45 homes were brought back into use in the city in 2025, while 38 were brought back in the county.

That's according to figures from the Voids Programme released by the Housing Minister James Browne.

Almost one million euro in funding helped bring those 83 vacant social homes back into use in Galway in 2025.

The Voids Programme supports local authorities in preparing vacant homes for re-letting and builds

Its aim is to help tackle vacancy and dereliction to ensure vacant properties are re-used for housing.

Nationally, more than 2,100 vacant social homes were brought back into use in 2025.
