Over a thousand without power in Gort as thunderstorm alert in place

Around 1,500 homes and businesses are without electricity in Gort and surrounding areas this morning.

It comes as Galway is under a status yellow thunderstorm warning until 9am

ESB Power Check says most people in the Gort area will have electricity restored at around 9AM.

Yesterday, there were also power outages in Moycullen, but power was restored quickly.

Met Eireann has forecast temperatures of up to 29 degrees as the day progresses.
