Patients have rated maternity services at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe higher than those at UHG.
The results of the National Maternity Experience Survey placed Portiuncula well above the national average, and UHG slightly below average.
This survey is not based on medical review, but responses to a patient survey on care received across all stages of their pregnancy.
It comes amid the transfer high risk pregnancies away from Portiuncula due to a high number of deaths and complications in such cases.

Independent Councillor for Ballinasloe, Dr Evelyn Parsons claims the survey results contradict that.
