People Before Profit has selected city resident Denman Rooke to contest the Galway West by-election
He works as a commercial artist and designer and has been a trade union activist for many years
Denman's also a long-time campaigner on workers' rights, anti-racism, climate action, cost of living, and housing.
He's a member of the Community Action Tenants Union which helps people oppose evictions and fight against landlord exploitation.

He has also highlighted neutrality and militarisation as important issues.
Denman Rooke's selection brings to nine the number of confirmed candidates for the by-election - which will be held on either May 15th or 22nd.
