Plans have been lodged for a significant wind farm development at Cooloo, around 12km east of Tuam.
The project is led by Neoen Renewables and involves the construction of 9 turbines
This wind farm will span a 10km piece of land, in the townlands of Cooloo, Cloonascragh, Dangan, Elmhill, Leacarrow and Polladooley.
There has been considerable local opposition to the project, and the Dáil heard earlier this month that North and East Galway are inexplicibly being "bombarded" with wind-farm proposals.
The project has been submitted directly to An Coimisiún Pleanála as a strategic development, meaning Galway County Council has no role in the decision-making process.
No date has been set for a decision, but it's likely to be sometime next year.
Observations and Submissions are open until the 21st of November.
