Plans to demolish and replace pub and apartments in heart of Salthill

Plans have been lodged to demolish a bar with overhead apartments in Salthill, and replace them with a more modern building.

The ground floor would continue to be a licensed premises under the plans led by Canfeen Investments Limited .

At the moment, the ground floor at 206 Upper Salthill Road is occupied by Cullinane's, with what's described as 11 "substandard" residential units overhead.

The plan is for the building to be demolished, and rebuilt as a modern development comprising street level bar, and 14 overhead apartments.

It'd be one floor higher than the existing building, with a setback penthouse level.

The planning application states the existing accommodation appears to have not been used in some time, and is in a semi-derelict state.

The two level basement previously served as a nightclub, though these plans propose to partially fill that space in.

City planners will make a decision in February.
