President of Ireland Catherine Connolly will be conferred with the Freedom of the City of Galway today.
President Connolly was elected to Galway City Council in 1999, and then served Galway West in the Dáil from 2016 until she was elected President last year.
The official ceremony will take place at the Hardiman Hotel at midday today.
Later this evening President Connolly will officially open the uachtarARTS Community Arts Group annual exhibition in Oughterard.

The group is launching its summer programme, kicking off the season at Oughterard Community Courthouse today.
