President Connolly leads tributes to North Galway native RTE broadcaster Michael Lyster

President Catherine Connolly is leading tributes to North Galway native RTE broadcaster Michael Lyster, who has died at the age of 71.

The Barnaderg native started his journalism career in The Tuam Herald, and was best known for presenting The Sunday Game Live for over three decades.

President Connolly says Michael was a familiar presence in almost every Irish household and will forever be synonymous with Gaelic Games coverage.

She added his warm presenting style and expert chairing of analysis was a central part of so many memorable matches over the years.

President Connolly has extended her deepest condolences to Michael's wife and children, and all his family, friends and colleagues.
