Proposal to ban unattended teens from Galway libraries dropped

A controversial proposal to ban under 16s from Galway's public libraries has been dropped.

The measure was included in the latest version of Galway County Council's customer service plan.

The proposal was to ban unattended teenagers from all public buildings - but councillors were roundly horrified to discover that would include libraries.

At a meeting this week, management confirmed it will no longer apply to libraries.

Independent Councillor Karey McHugh-Farag says it's common sense.
