Plans to transform the former Griffins Bakery on Shop Street into a reduced café with overhead accommodation have been refused.
Earlier this year, Jessed Ltd submitted plans for a reduced café and retail unit, and a change of use of the first, second and third floors to residential accommodation.
This was specified as one five-bed, and one four-bed unit - for short term let or student accommodation.
City planners have refused permission, taking issue with the short term letting plans, and the loss of retail space at ground level on a busy shopping street.
This is the third planning application submitted for the former Griffins Bakery since it closed its doors in 2019 after more than 100 years in operation.
