Galway appears to be leading the way when it comes to thinking about transitioning to electric vehicles.
That's according to Carzone's newly launched 2026 motoring report, which surveyed over a thousand people.
The most striking finding is that Galway has the highest number of people thinking about buying an electric vehicle, at 15 per cent.
That's more than double the sentiment expressed in some counties.
The report also notes a high degree of misinformation and uncertainty surrounding EVs that impacts on confidence.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the most common perception is that there aren't enough chargers, followed by EVs being too expensive, taking too long to charge, and faster depreciation.
Meanwhile, 90 per cent of those surveyed in Galway bought their current car second hand - and almost half bought from an independent dealer.
Galway drivers also spend an average of €224 per month maintaining their vehicle - and that's second only to Dublin and Kildare.
There are all kinds of stats in the full national report - which can be found at Carzone.ie.
