Over 40 local residents joined a protest earlier today at County Hall over battery energy storage plans in Cregmore.
The plans are part of a significant 141 hectare solar farm, which was granted permission in 2021.
More recently, the developer is seeking approval for an extension of planning permission for a battery facility to store excess energy.
Concerns have arisen over the potential safety hazard if a fire was to break out at the facility, with evacuation protocols for residents seemingly unclear.
Local residents at the protest shared their concerns with FYI Galway's James Varley.
