Residents protest at County Hall over Cregmore battery storage plans

Over 40 local residents have protested at County Hall over battery energy storage plans in Cregmore.

The plans are part of a significant 141 hectare solar farm, which was granted permission in 2021.

More recently, the developer is seeking approval for an extension of planning permission for a battery facility to store excess energy.

Concerns have arisen over the potential safety hazard if a fire was to break out at the facility, with evacuation protocols for residents seemingly unclear.
