Road works have begun to improve safety near Sylane National School in Corofin

Road safety concerns have been raised for some time on what's known locally as 'the avenue', which pupils use to queue up to school.

The works, taking place over the next week, involve road resurfacing and hedge-trimming, to improve safety for children.

Tuam area Fine Gael Councillor Andrew Reddington says this will come as a huge relief to those in the area
