Salthill listed as Galway's cleanest beach but Portumna 'heavily littered'

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Salthill has been listed as Galway's cleanest beach in the first nationwide survey by Irish Business Against Litter- IBAL.

However the Shannon in Portumna is described as 'heavily littered'.

The report states that the 'Waterways Ireland site beside the bridge in Portumna was very clean but The Emerald Star site has large accumulations of litter and within the survey area there was also some marine litter from boats.'
