Scoil na bhForbacha has won a national award for its high-profile campaign calling for improved road safety measures.
The school claimed an RSA Leading Light Award at Croke Park yesterday, in recognition of their efforts for works on the R336.
They included major protest walks, student-produced videos, letters to Galway County Council and participation in media interviews.
The award also recognises parents and the wider community, who made a record number of submissions to the County Council on the Safe Routes to School programme.
Local campaigner Joyce Muhlschlegel says everyone in Furbo is immensely proud of the students
