Shantalla residents keep pressure on as helipad vote looms

City councillors are being urged to say no in a crucial vote on Monday regarding the future of Shantalla Park.

It's as the HSE is hoping to purchase the land from Galway City Council for use as a permanent helipad.

They'd pay around €700 thousand for the land, and contribute a further €1m towards improvement works in Shantalla to compensate the loss of amenity space.

But local campaigners are adamant they don't want promises or money - just their green spaces for current and future generations.

They've been protesting outside public consultations in Shantalla Community Centre over the past two days.
