Galway Bay fm newsroom - 290 thousand euro has been ring-fenced for a new electrical apprenticeship programme at GMIT.
It's part of an 8 million euro national allocation for Institutes of Technologies across Ireland, benefitting 13 trades.
This government hopes to more than double the number of new apprentices to 9,000 by 2020.
