The Taoiseach today met with residents as he officially opened 74 newly developed social homes in Ballinasloe in the An Gort Fada and An Choill Fada estates
Micheál Martin also met with various local groups including Ballinasloe Social Services and Galway Rural Development
In addition, he was given a tour of Scoil an Chroi Naofa, which was last week finally listed for a new school building after a campaign spanning three decades
In the last hour he has been speaking to reporters in Ballinasloe, including FYI Galway's David Nevin, touching on a number of local issues
