Taoiseach vows to get update on stalled city park and ride plans

The Taoiseach has vowed to try and get some clarity over long-running delays on plans to establish Park and Ride facilities for Galway City.

The plans were first proposed well over 20 years ago but languished with very little movement for the bulk of that time.

Speaking in the Dáil, Galway West TD John Connolly noted there was a renewed push in more recent years and three sites were identified.

The biggest sites are off the Motorway in Oranmore and off the N83 in Claregalway, with a smaller site at Barna Road on the west side of the city.

Fianna Fail Deputy Connolly said planning applications were planned for the middle of 2023 - but once again, it seems nothing has happened since.

Speaking in response, Taoiseach Micheal Martin said he would look into it.
