Teenager who died in Loughrea road crash named locally as James Skelton from Corrandulla

The teenager who died after a crash on the N65 outside Loughrea has been named locally as James Skelton.

The 18-year-old from Clonboo, Corrandulla, died after a single vehicle crash at Moyleen in the early hours of Sunday.

The driver and two other passengers were brought by ambulance to University Hospital Galway with non-life-threatening injuries.

James completed his Leaving Certificate last year at Coláiste Bhaile Chláir.

He is the son of Ian Skelton and his late wife Marian who died in 2017.

James is also survived by his brothers Kieran and Aidan and a wide circle of family and friends.

Local Fianna Fáil councillor Mary Hoade says the area is numb following the tragedy.
