Tuam playwright Tom Murphy dies at age of 83

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Award-winning playwright and Tuam native Tom Murphy has died aged 83.

Tom was born in Tuam in 1935 and worked closely with the Abbey Theatre and the Druid Theatre Company during his distinguished career.

The youngest of 10 children, he attended the Archbishop McHale College, and later became a metalwork teacher.
