Galway Bay fm newsroom - St Brigid's Mercy Secondary School in Tuam is among 40 schools nationwide which will introduce Computer Science as a subject this year.
Students will be required to create apps and websites as part of the new Leaving Cert subject, with teaching to begin in September.
Education Minister Richard Bruton says teachers will be given the necessary supports also.
